Focal Blur in Computer Vision

Introduction

Most computer vision methods either ignore focal blur completely, or use it explicitely (for example as a depth cue).

For research purposed, we provide ground truth data for stereo and depth-from-defocus, with various amounts of focal blur, generated with a high-quality ray-tracer (POV-Ray).

Datasets

• The Patio dataset and the Office dataset were generated from scenes by Jaime Vives Piqueres (with the help of the MegaPOV annotation patch and the focal blur patch).
